Where exactly should you mount a spray gun bracket on the wall? Getting the height wrong is annoying

2026-08-27

You might think that installing the spray gun stand is simple - just stick it on the wall and it's done. But once the height or position is wrong, you'll be annoyed every day: if it's too high, you'll have to stretch your arms to reach it; if it's too low, the hose will wrap around the floor; if it's too far from the toilet, you'll have to pull the hose hard to use it. Here is the truly practical and correct method.

Optimal Height for Spray Gun Stand

The most common mistake people make regarding the height: The height of the stand should be roughly the same as the toilet tank, or slightly lower, about 60 to 70 centimeters from the ground. This way, when sitting on the toilet, you can naturally reach the spray gun without bending over or stretching. If the stand is installed at the height of the toilet tank, it's exactly the position where your hand naturally extends; but if it's hung too low, it will look hidden and you'll have to bend over and hunch over every time you use it. Clearly, it's not worth it.

Correct Positioning Next to the Toilet

The position of the toilet is also very important: Install the stand on the wall next to the toilet, facing the side of your dominant hand. Right-handed people usually choose the wall on the right, and left-handed people the one on the left. The stand should be close enough so that the hose can reach comfortably without being fully extended - leave about 20 centimeters of slack space.

Hose Length Considerations

The length of the hose determines the flexibility of the installation. Most spray guns come with a hose length of about 1.2 to 1.5 meters. This length allows you to adjust the position of the stand within a certain range. If the length is too short, the installation options will be limited; if it's over 1.5 meters, the excess hose will hang down and look messy. If you purchase the stand and hose separately, measure the distance from the position where you plan to install the stand to the farthest point you need to reach - usually the front edge of the toilet. Add an extra 30 centimeters as a margin, and this is the minimum hose length you need.

Secure Installation is Key

The stand should be firmly installed. Over time, the stand will bear a lot of tension - you'll repeatedly pull out and push the nozzle back every day. If you use poor-quality plastic anchors to fix the stand to the wall panel, it will loosen within a few months and the entire device will shake. Use appropriate wall anchors, or ideally, install it directly on the wooden stud on the wall.
